Everything about Hymenoplasty

A woman’s virginity is dear to her, and she certainly is quite sensitive about it. It’s no surprise that women will try anything to preserve and restore their virginity, including kegel exercises, vagina-tightening creams, and a plethora of other methods to keep their hymen intact and safe.

What is Hymenoplasty?

Before understanding the concept of hymenoplasty, let’s first understand the meaning of hymen.

A hymen is a thin pinkish membrane that partially covers the vaginal opening. It is located approximately half an inch inside the vagina. It is, in fact, a component of the vulva, which serves as the vaginal opening. The hymen’s function is unknown, but it has been proposed that it serves as a vaginal barrier against external sources of infection until puberty.

Hymenoplasty is the most common term for surgery to reconstruct the hymen and restore its integrity. This hymen cosmetic repair is also known as revirginization. You should not be afraid of the surgery, as the doctors provide local anesthesia to relieve pain.

When is hymenoplasty needed?

According to studies, more than 40% did not bleed during the first intercourse, and 52% with prior intercourse had an intact hymen. Although not compulsory, a woman might have several reasons to undergo a hymenoplasty surgery:

Psychological contentment

If a woman has been raped or sexually abused, her hymen is very likely to have torn. Some women choose to have hymen surgery to restore them both physically and mentally to the time before the abuse to repair the psychological damage caused by this type of abuse.

Heal hymen injury

For some women, having an intact hymen that breaks during their first sexual experience is critical. In some cases, the hymen can tear prior to intercourse. Tampon use and vigorous exercise can all tear the hymen, and if a hymen is torn as a result of these activities, hymenoplasty provides a surgical solution.

Blockage in the hymen

A blocked membrane could be serious, as it may restrict blood flow, causing problems with the menstrual cycle. A small hole is created in the hymen with the help of hymenoplasty to facilitate flow.

Complex hymen structure

This is referred to as the septate hymen. In such cases, the hymenal tissue splits into rope-like formations, forming a complicated structure. As a result, the hymen may become extremely thick.

A hymectomy is performed to avoid any problems caused by the thickness.

Muscle tightening

Flaccidity in the vaginal muscles can occur after childbirth or with age. Hymenoplasty can help with this.

Who is an ideal candidate for hymenoplasty?

There could be sexual or non-sexual motivations. If you lack hymen tissue or want to replace it, you may be an ideal candidate for the surgery.

Some unmarried women want to demonstrate that their hymen is intact, and if they see that it is not, they opt for surgery.

Typically, women who have previously been pregnant choose this treatment for muscle tightening. Alternatively, girls who have shed unwanted tears may choose to cure it.

What is the procedure for hymenoplasty?

This is a simple procedure that is performed under local anesthesia. The specific tissue is stitched in such a way that only a small opening remains. The excess skin or tissues are neatly and gently removed.

It is possible that there is insufficient skin or that the hymen is absent. The doctor then creates one from vaginal skin or any synthetic tissue. In such cases, our doctor will either arrange for a vaginal flap or an artificial blood supply.

Recovery

If you rest for a few days, you will recover quickly. A minimum of seven to ten days is required to recover fully. You can return to work after two to three days, but you should avoid heavy lifting or strenuous exercise.

It’s important to remember that you can only engage in sexual activity after eight weeks. You must give it time to heal completely.
